It is important that you take proper care of your sea fishing tackle. It extends their life, prevents accidents that may result from their damage, and helps you enjoy the sport more.

Part of being a good fisherman is knowing how the proper maintenance of your sea fishing tackle is done. It is very, very important that you know how to take good care of your sea fishing tackle. After all, no matter how good a fisherman you are, your performance in the pursuit of the sport will only be as good as the condition of your fishing gear. The fact is that you cannot expect your fishing gear to be in good condition if you do not take good care of it.

When you fish at sea, you expose your tackle to seawater and the salty sea breeze. The salt from the water and the wind, if left alone, can cling to the plates and the insides of your reel. Eventually, the salt can corrode the metal the reel and the gears inside it are made of. Even if the reel plates are made of carbon composites, which do not get corroded by salt, the screws holding them together and the gears inside may not be made of the same stuff.

That is not all of it. The way you handle your sea fishing tackle also greatly affects its condition. If you drop your rod, it may get cracked or bent at an angle that skews its balance when you hold it. If you spool your line the wrong way, it can get misaligned. If you leave the line spooled in the reel even after you are done fishing, you are inviting corrosion on your reel.

Preventive maintenance of your sea fishing tackle is essential if you want to pursue fishing seriously. Taking good care of your fishing equipment not only extends their life but also enhances your enjoyment of the sport. It can also prevent accidents that may occur from a fishing rod breaking, the level wind on the reel snapping or the line fraying on the rod.

Preventive maintenance of your sea fishing tackle is easy. All you need to do is to wash your fishing rod with warm tap water right after you use it, and then dry it thoroughly before you store it away. Also, take the time to check the insides of the reel to see if there are corroding parts or debris lodged within. Oil the gears with lightweight oil specifically made for fishing reels to keep them in smooth, working order.

Another thing you should look at when checking on your sea fishing tackle are your rod guides. If your rod guides are worn out or cracked, they can cut your line when you are struggling with a big catch. You do not need to be told how disappointing that can get, losing a good catch because of a broken line. You may have to take your rod to a repair shop to get those guides fixed.

Taking proper care of your sea fishing tackle will help a lot in keeping your enjoyment level up as you go fishing out in the sea. Again, your excellence as a fisherman is only as good as the condition of your sea fishing tackle.

fishing tackle
Pike fishing is a great sport and is enjoyed by so many people worldwide, to make the most of it and too do it safely so that you are not harming the fish; you are going to require a few extras in your pike fishing tackle from your ordinary tackle setups. This article will cover some of the essentials you will need.

There are so many different aspects of pike fishing that you need to think about before you purchase your equipment. You need to think about what is going to be best for your fishing experience and also more importantly what you will need so that these brilliant pike aren’t harmed.

Now a run down of the basics that will make up your pike fishing tackle equipment, you are going to need:

A rod, Reels, Line, Hooks, Trace wire and bite indication. These are the essentials for pike fishing but you are also going to need a few extra tools to make your fishing experience easier and safer, these include, long forceps, wire cutters and long nosed pliers. It is also essential that you carry these in your pike fishing tackle set as you will need them when unhooking your pike. If you were to try and reach in and take the hook out of a pikes mouth then you are risking losing your fingers. Pike have extremely sharp teeth.

All pike fishing tackle needs to be strong as these fish are extremely powerful and aggressive. Now lets move on to what types of these equipment we will need.

Firstly when purchasing a rod I would recommend that you get one that is about 12ft long and has a test curve of 2.75lbs and above, anything less and there isn’t really any point of fishing for pike as a pike can easily break the rod if they are big enough. The higher the test curves the better as well because you can use a wider variety of baits and different lead sizes.

Right next is the line, when getting your line I would recommend getting one that has 16lbs breaking strain, at least. If you get less then you are risking the chance of the line failing you after a period of time, so to be on the safe side 16lbs is probably the safest bet to start with. You will also want to have use mono rather than braid as the abrasion resistance quality of mono is so much better than braid which I find is nowhere near as good.

Next on the list for your pike fishing tackle is to get a reel, when looking for a reel you should look for one that has about 15lb mono which will easily be enough for general pike fishing.

Next and the most important piece of equipment that there is in your pike fishing tackle is a trace wire. Now without a trace wire you may as well give up before you even begin. Without the trace wire a pike will bite straight through your line with its amazingly sharp teeth and therefore ruin your pike fishing experience. Now the best kind of trace wire is probably the 7 strand over the 29 strand as they are easier to use and don’t get muddled up so easily. When getting your trace wire you will probably want to be looking at ones with about 30lb or more on it.

Your pike fishing tackle is almost complete, the next piece of equipment on the list are hooks, now I think most people will agree with me here that treble hooks are probably the best hooks to get. All you need to do when getting hooks is to make sure that they are not easily bendable and that they are very sharp. If they are bendable they have a tendency of straightening which is not helpful when trying to catch fish.

The last piece of pike fishing tackle that I am going to cover in this article is bite indication, this part of your tackle helps you know when you have got a bite, you can get these in different types giving you visual or audible indications. If you can I would recommend using both, they also help you so that when you catch a fish you can quickly start trying to catch it rather than deep hooking the pike, which can be effectively fatal to a pike.

I hope this article helps you in some way, feel free too leave comments and good luck setting up your own pike fishing tackle set.

Korda Fishing tackle is a highly recognised fishing tackle company known the world over. The developing and manufacturing stages see productions of a high quality tackle gear that is aimed at professional fishermen, right the way to beginners. Korda is famous for its fishing rigs, leads and many other fishing tackles and increasingly on the fishing information it provides to all its customers.

The driving power behind Korda is that they are constantly improving their wide range of tackles in order for their company to be ahead of the game at all times. The notion Korda carries is that the apparatus they use in their fishing will be of the highest quality and that expense if not an issue. By producing top quality good enables better fishing and an overall better fishing experience. If a product designed is not up to scratch then it is not made, or is developed in order for it to be successful.

A clear example of this is with Korda hybrid bottom bait fishing tackle. This bait was initially branded a hooklink material made from fluorocarbon. The idea of this tackle was to have part of the hooklink become invisible when absorbing water, this would therefore make it harder for the fish to see the line and make it easier to catch. The problem of this type of tackle was that it became increasingly obvious that it would not work. The idea was not scrapped; developers now coated the hooklink in the best possible material, chosen through the use of extensive field testing. This type of tackle is now used in many of the fishing tackles provided with fishing rods etc as it has been proved to be highly successfully.

This shows that even thought, initially the item was faulted it was used in a different way and turned out to be highly successful. Korda fishing tackles use existing ideas and thoughts of fishing and develop them further in order for their goods to outweigh the competitors. The development team for kordas fishing tackle is extremely good as they develop unthought-of designs and apparatus, that become highly successful.

Korda fishing tackle also specialise in fishing hooks. After many years of experience, different hooks and materials that make the hooks are used in order to catch the most fish. the hooks and tackles are used and made exactly how they needed in order to catch the right fish. This is what makes Korda fishing tackle so successfully as the tackle you buy is made especially for the job needed

By buying Korda fishing tackle you are in safe hands knowing that you have bought high quality fishing gear and that you are now at an advantage when fishing with these tackles rather than other unbranded names.
