fishing tackle
With more and more online stores being developed specifically for fishing tackle, more importantly; fly fishing tackle it is clear to see that online stores are beginning to cater for a variety of different people. With a new generation of cyber shoppers and surfers, fishing tackle shops have to keep up with modern technology and move online. With the power of online sales shops instantly open themselves up to a new world of consumers and therefore have to cater for them. This is why I believe that online fly fishing tackle stores are beginning to cater for all peoples.

When it is said catering for all, the phrase entails professional fishermen to amateur and even beginners. When looking at online fly fishing tackle stores it is possible to see that there is an extensive range of tackles to be bought. The reason why there is such a large variety of different tackle stock is because online stores have a much larger captive catchment area than a small high-street store would. Online stores have the potential power to sell their stock to the whole world, not just a town. Based solely on this reason online tackle shops have to have a variety of different stocks that would be catered for all.

By looking online at a particular website I found a section dedicated purely for fly fishing tackle as well as other different fishing tackle sections. By having a large section dedicated to just one aspect of fishing clearly demonstrates that this website is very well stocked and is trying to cater for all. When looking at this section I found 15 categories supplying different aspects of fly fishing tackles ranging from advanced branded tackles such as Donegal flies to a huge variety of fishing reels and even to books that teach beginners and even amateur fishermen about fly fishing tackles and how to fish.

By having many different dedicated sub- sections within the fly fishing tackle section means that it is very easy to find what you are looking for and also for the company to update its stocks. By being highly organised these online stores are quick and easy to use with sections designed specifically for beginners so that that they are not confused when looking through what seems to be an endless list of different tackles for different types of fishing.

By stocking large amounts of different tackles means that fishermen are able to choose from a wide variety of different fishing stocks. Furthermore by clearing showing what types of fly fishing tackles these online stores are organised which means that it is easy to find exactly that you want. By having such large sections of different stock, that are highly organised means that it is easy for different types of fishermen are all catered for. This is a major benefit as unlike high street stores that have smaller amounts of tackle online stores offer the customer to look for exactly what they want and need what click of a button.

fishing tackle
You have your fishing rod, you have your bait. Let’s go fishing! No my friend, you are mistaken. When I first started fishing many years ago, this is what I believed was the necessary apparatus. I was wrong. I went to my local fishing tackle shop and was quickly told that I needed: good quality fishing wire, fishing hooks, a fishing reel, nets, rigs and lures, floats, the list goes on. I quickly realised that the cheap rod and bait I believed I needed turned into an expensive investment that cost me well over four hundred pounds!

Luckily for you, you have what you are using now: the internet. As you may have known, or should know, shopping online is much cheaper then shopping in your high street. This is why I urge you to shop online for your fishing tackle. With more and more people shopping online, fishing tackle websites are significantly cheaper then fishing tackle shops. I have seen on many websites special deals such as buy one get one free hooks. One deal I came across was selling a Berkley B1 12 FT carp rod 2.75lb at a significantly reduced price from£219.99 to £119.99, that is a one hundred pound saving! Deals like this should not be missed. I have never in my life witnessed that much discount on an item in a store, unless the item has become redundant. The deals I have found are not simply selling redundant stock; they are being sold as special offers. Theses offers are constantly changing, which enables one to buy many types of fishing tackle at reduced prices.

It is also important for one to consider the price at which fishing tackle is increasing. With technological developments of fishing tackle such as LED baits that blink to attract fish, fishing tackle is becoming more expensive. Even though these new types of fishing tackle are improved and are proven to catch more fish, I feel that the price they are charging does not reflect how useful they would be. I have still been able to catch fish in the past, the fact that I have these new technologies at my disposal means I have catch a few more fish, but ultimately I still catch a fish if I don’t use these new innovations. If you are the more serious fisherman who prides himself on the amount of fish caught, then it would be in your best interest to purchase more expensive types of fishing tackle. However if you are more of a amateur, it would be right to say that you would be better off using the more simpler, cheaper fishing tackles.

The general fact that online stores are beginning to sell more than local stores is why their tackle is priced lower then means that it is financially better to shop online then stores. This is why I say, be you a professional or amateur fisherman the online route for your fishing tackle is the way to go if you want to save money and untimely catch more fish.

fishing tackle
When it comes to being an effective fisherman, few components matter as much as your fishing tackle selection. You could be the best fisherman in the world, but without the right tackle for the fish you are fishing, you aren’t going to catch many fish-period.

On the other hand, you could be the worst fisherman in the world, but if you have the correct tackle for your area, you still have a shot at catching your fish.

As with fishing knots, fishing tackle is one of the fundamentals you need to master. So many people are so focused on technique that they completely forget about the fundamentals such as having correct fishing knots and tackle; this is just like trying to master the golf swing without knowing the right grip and setup. It just won’t work.

The number one thing you need to understand is that the lures are the most crucial aspect of your tackle, and the one you should pay the most attention to. This is what’s going to make or break your success.

What’s the best kind of lure to get? As with anything in fishing, it depends on what kind of fish you are going after, and where you plan on fishing.

You need to know this information before you get fishing tackle. Consider not only the variety of fish you are targeting, but what they will be eating in the area you will be. Try to get lures that mimic what they eat as much has possible, as this is much more likely to attract them.

If you don’t know what the fish in the area you will be fishing will be eating, call up the local fishing guides in the area, and ask what kind of lures they’d recommend. A pretty foolproof method, and one that’s virtually guaranteed to give you the correct fishing lures for your trip.

If you plan on fishing in the same area many times, then the best method to learn the right tackle to use is to go fishing with an experienced fisherman for your first several trips, and see what equipment they use.

There’s nothing like copying people who already have the skill you want to learn, as this is much quicker than attempting to learn it al yourself, which can take years of trial and error. So many people do this when they could cut a huge chunk of time out of their learning curve by simply modeling other top fisherman.

Now that we’ve gotten the most important aspect of your tackle out of the way, there are still some important things you need to consider, such as gear. Always purchase clothing appropriate to wear you will be fishing, and the season as well.

Where should you get your fishing tackle? Obviously, you can do so at your local fishing shops, but here is a much better method-buy them online.

You can generally save a lot of money using this method, as the selection will be wider and if you search enough, you will probably save about 50% or more off the typical retail price for comparable offline fishing tackle.

fishing tackle
What is fishing tackle? When I was first asked this question I simply thought it was just the bait. I was wrong. Fishing tackle consists of everything that makes up fishing, be it the fishing pole, the wire, reel and nets. Fishing tackle is constantly changing with new and improved tackles that promise better results from that of previous methods and tools used. This shows that fishing is a progressive sport that is constantly improving.

In the past fishing tackle consisted of just a line and a hook. When one looks at how fishing is carried out today, it is possible to see a great deal of change has occurred. For instance, the fishing poles themselves are becoming lighter and more durable that cope with the strain of the fish, where before the pole may have snapped. Today’s state of the art poles can bend more than 70 degrees and still retain their shape weighing no more than four kilograms. With the development of fishing poles, comes the increase in costs. Fishing poles have a wide price range of anything from twenty pounds to an excess of 6 thousand. The more expensive poles as already discussed are more durable, yet lighter, which add up to the perfect combination of catching the best fish.

Bait, which is also a fishing tackle, has also improved over time. In the case of live bait, red coloured grubs are used instead of grey grubs. It has been found that they attract more fish due to their bright colours. This shows the advancement in fishing tackle with the type of baits used.  With artificial bait, thin brightly coloured fake fish were used in the past that shone and moved in the water, attracting fish. This fishing tackle was improved with the development of lights used as bait. Modern methods of fishing are carried out by placing small LEDs in fish shaped, coloured plastics. This new method of fishing attracts a lot more fish then the pervious methods of artificial bait as the blinking light attracts the fish to the hook. Another positive attribute that artificial baits bring, is that live animals such as small fish or worms do not get harmed. Artificial baits will save you money in the long term as you simply buy them once and that is it. They are also usually cheaper than some live bait such as small fish etc. However they are sometimes more expensive then grubs and maggots.

With the development of the internet fishing, tackle has become much cheaper to buy online and from my own personal experience it would be wise to make an investment online rather than go to a shop, unless you are a beginner of course.

By using different fishing tackles and different fishing techniques it is possible to see that there are many different ways to fish. It is also important to note how fishing tackles have changed over time to become more effective at catching fish. In the future there are endless ways in which fishing tackle can be improved. With the development of sonar’s that detect larger fish (mainly used in sea fishing) and lasers that can catch fish, it is possible for one to see that fishing techniques will be constantly changing in order for it to become easier to catch fish.

Buying second-hand is a good alternative when you cannot afford brand new sea fishing tackle. But you should buy only from reliable sources and check the gear before you buy them.

A fisherman is only as good as his tackle, and so, if you plan on fishing out there at sea, you should only get the best sea fishing tackle for use when you pursue the sport. Treat your purchase of your sea fishing tackle as an investment, and it will greatly enhance your angling experience.

Unfortunately, good sea fishing tackle is not as cheap as we would like it to be, given the worsening economic conditions all over the world and the soaring prices that come along with it, including the cost of fishing gear. People who cannot afford brand new sea fishing tackle will have to go with second-hand ones that fit their budget.

Here is where the trouble begins: many inexperienced fishermen end up getting bad fishing gear or paying more than they should when buying second-hand. The case is always that they just took the word of the seller at face value and did not check the condition of the gear for themselves. Goodness knows how many conmen are out there looking for easy marks, and possible marks always include newbie anglers without a clue as to what kind of sea fishing tackle they ought to get.

Thus, if you are buying second-hand fishing equipment, always make sure to check the condition and the quality of the tackle itself. Let us take for example a second-hand fishing rod. A good fishing rod, whether it is brand new or previously used, will have a balanced feel in your hands, and it is a balance that should not be lost when you begin using it as you go sea fishing. Cracks on the rod and corrosion on the plates of the reel and on the spool will cause the fishing rod to lose its balance.

So, when buying second-hand sea fishing tackle, look out for nicks and cracks on the rod itself. It is easy to check the rod for damage – just run your fingers along its length and feel for nicks and cracks with your own skin.

Reels, on the other hand, are much trickier. You have to check the outer plating of the reels as well as the inside. Sea water is corrosive, and a good fisherman will always wash his reels with warm tap water after using them. Many modern fishing reels are made from carbon composites that resist corroding, but then again, you would never know if the reels are not corroded if you would not check them thoroughly. Check the outer plate and have the seller dismantle the reel so you could have a look at the inside. If the gears inside look rusty or worn out but the plates are still good, you can get the reel and just replace the gear.

The rule of thumb in buying second-hand sea fishing tackle is to buy them only from sources you find reliable, like an acquaintance who has quit fishing or the second-hand shelves of a fishing retailer. Also, always check the condition of the sea fishing tackle before taking out your wallet.
