fishing tackle
Fishing tackle is an important part of getting that badly desired fish. If you do not have the correct bait, equipment and conditions they may slip away into the depths of the water. With the fishing market booming there are many dealers that have a variety of products. Some are better than others are of course, but really you should just find what works best for you. The type of equipment and fishing tackle that you use; will mostly likely change with the different types of fish that you may be targeting.

There are however some very important tips that can help you have a successful fishing expedition. One of the first things to consider is the type of bait that you will use. This takes a bit of planning to get ready for your big day. The bait of course will depend on the type of fish that you are fishing for. Much bait can be purchased from the local market or can be brought from home. Baits range from salmon eggs, chicken livers to what is known as stink bait. Researching the biting habits of the intended fish can assist you in choosing the correct bait.

The next thing to consider with fishing tackle is the hook that holds the bait. There are several different sizes and again depends on the size of the fish. It is important to fish with the correct bait or you may not get a good hook. Hooks are numbered and the smaller the number the larger the hook. For example, you may want to use a size 8 for larger fish such as the big mouth bass. Smaller hooks should be used with fish such as catfish and bluegill.

Sinkers or weights are what allow your hook and line to sink into the water. If the hook stayed at the top of the water you would miss the bottom feeding fish. Many stay in the depths to avoid being your target! Sinkers also come in a variety of styles and weights and should be based on the type of rod and water conditions. It is a good idea to have a wide range of sinkers in the fishing tackle collection to ensure you always have what you need.

Visiting a local fishing or sporting good store can help you fill your fishing tackle box with all the equipment that you will need. Part of the skill of fishing is ensuring that you are prepared and have the right equipment. Fish will certainly not bite on an empty hook, so be prepared.

fishing tackle
If your sea fishing tackle gets broken because of constant wearing and tearing, you can repair it by yourself. It is simple and easy, and it can save you some money.

Just like anything else, sea fishing tackle can be worn down when you use it constantly, no matter how well you take care of it. So, when the guides on your fishing rod get detached or the tip breaks off, your choice is either to replace whichever part is broken or to buy a new rod. However, brand new sea fishing tackle can be a bit costly these days, so if your rod is not completely damaged, you should just replace what parts are broken and have it repaired.

Replacing a detached rod guide or repairing a rod tip is simple enough to do on your own. Thus, if you want to save some money on repairing your fishing rod, just buy the materials that you need and do the repairing yourself.

How to Replace Rod Guides

To replace the rod guides on your sea fishing tackle, you would need to buy new rod guides from your local sporting shop. Make sure that the guides you get are the same size as the ones you would be replacing.

To get this done, you would need to remove all the old threads that had held the rod guides on your tackle. And then, attach the new guides by wrapping new rod thread around the foot of the guide and the rod itself. Afterwards, you dab upon it a healthy coating of epoxy glue. Even clear nail polish can work if you do not have epoxy glue available at home.

How to Replace Rod Tips

As it is with broken rod guides, it would be necessary for you to buy a new rod tip in order to replace the one that was broken off your sea fishing tackle. Again, you can get it from your local sporting shop; just be sure that your new rod tip will be able to fit the hole on your fishing rod.

Once you have your new rod tip, roughen its surface with sandpaper in order to make gluing it a lot easier. So you can be certain that your new tip will hold on your fishing rod, scrape away the old threads and old glue that held your old tip on your rod.

After you are done with working on the tip and the rod, get a stick of ferrule cement and melt it down. Swab the melted ferrule cement on both the tip and the rod and then glue the parts of your sea fishing tackle together. Be sure that these two parts are aligned correctly before the glue becomes dry.

If DIY Is Not Your Style

Replacing the broken parts of your sea fishing tackle is simple enough to do on your own. It is also a good way of saving a few dollars on the necessary repairs that you need to do to keep your fishing rod in good working order. However, if do-it-yourself is not your style, you can always take your sea fishing tackle to your local repair shop and shell out a few quid to get these repairs done.

You will learn to love fishing more if you get great results on your first trips to the sea as a novice fisherman. But the chances of getting great results depend a lot on the quality of your sea fishing tackle.

As a novice fisherman, it is essential for you to put together a good set of sea fishing tackle if you want to pursue fishing seriously as a hobby. Being able to use good sea fishing tackle on your first few fishing trips will increase your chances of landing a good catch. You are most certain to get hooked on fishing (pun intended) when you get good results out of your first few trips to the sea.

A good set of sea fishing tackle always starts with a great fishing rod. If you are just starting out as a fisherman and you do not know yet if you like it well enough to make a hobby out of it, then it is perfectly all right for you to get a second-hand fishing rod. You do not have to shell out your hard-earned cash on an expensive, brand new fishing rod if you are not sure yet if fishing is the right hobby for you.

But whether you buy a second-hand sea fishing tackle or get a new one, you should make sure that the quality of the rod you get is very good. Test out the rod at the store before you make your purchase, and keep in mind the following pointers when you buy your first fishing rod:

1. Before you drive to the sea fishing tackle store, make sure you have done your homework on which are the most respected brand names when it comes to fishing rods. You can search the Internet for that information, or you can ask people you know who are into fishing.

2. Make a beeline for a fishing rod that is made of durable material. You will be fishing at sea, and you will be fishing for big fish. For that, you would need a tough fishing rod that is strong enough to help you hold your catch even if the struggle to land it is rough. The fishing rod that you need is something that is more than six inches long and is made of something like hollowed glass.

3. Hold your candidate rods in your hand. Go for sea fishing tackle that has a cork handle since they are more comfortable to hold. Judge the weight of the tackle in your hands; the weight should be just right, not too heavy and not too light. Take a swing at it and see just how flexible it is and how balanced it feels in your hand.

4. If you are buying a second-hand fishing rod, check the rod for cracks and the reel for corrosion. Have an attendant open the reel for you to see if there is any corrosion on the gears hidden inside the plates.

If you are just starting out on fishing, make sure that you get only the best sea fishing tackle you can afford, be it a brand new one or a second-hand one. After all, you will only be as good a fisherman as your sea fishing tackle.

If you love fishing and know bits and bobs about what is out the for fishermen to use then you may have heard of Korda, They are a fishing tackle manufacturer that create and enhance their own rigs, hooks, systems and many other fishing essentials. The best bit about this company is that everything is designed for anglers by anglers. The team at Korda is made up of anglers and they definitely know what they are doing. If they didn’t then they would not have the company where it is today.

As well as selling their own systems and other fishing equipment Korda are well respected for the information that they provide to the fishing community. They have produced a lot of DVDs providing so much information for anglers that of all experiences from beginner to expert. Korda have always been dedicated to getting real tips and information across to anglers and have been a leader in fishing information for a long time.

Korda DVDs are not like the average fishing video where all you see is fish being caught and nothing explained, they are instead probably one of the most valuable learning resources for anglers. Their videos go into so much depth and give so much information you will want to get out of there and onto the banks as soon as you can armed with your new knowledge. In Korda DVDs you will not be constantly watching fish get caught, you will also be experiencing what the anglers are doing as they take you through everything and then when a catch occurs they will show you what to do. I would have to say they are the top fishing information people around. Another good thing about these videos is that even if you are a more experienced angler, you will not feel like you are being patronized as the videos are explained in a way that is easy for both experienced and beginners to understand and watch.

Another reason why Korda is one of the leading fishing designers and manufacturers is because of their mottos and the way that they think and design. Take for example the fishing systems that they have designed and created, they will say that no matter how much harder it is to make the product they will make it work so that every system fits in with the existing product line. They also bring up good points about how annoying it can be to have to use different size rig tubes and swivels etc, that is why they have taken the initiative to design rigs and systems and all their equipment in one size so that it saves you the angler money and also save you a lot of headaches and time when messing around with your different size equipment changing all the time.

Another thing about Korda is that they put in so much time and effort with these systems and rigs etc that you know you will be able to rely on them, one piece of equipment that comes to mind is the way they put so much time and care into the rig bit colours. They spend a lot of time on these because they know that without the right colours you are going to have problems catching a fish that knows that you are there.

All in all I would highly recommend Korda equipment to any angler and suggest checking out their videos whether you are a beginner or a expert fishermen.

fishing tackle
The bait is an essential part of sea fishing tackle. A fisherman should always have bait with him whenever he sets out to sea to fish.

The bait is a very important part of a fisherman’s sea fishing tackle. The specific reason for this is that it is the one that lures the fish to the hook and catches it. Without any bait in his sea fishing tackle, a fisherman cannot hope to return from his fishing trip with any catch at all.

In general, there are three types of bait that fishermen can keep in their sea fishing tackle. One type is live bait. As the name suggests, live bait are living creatures attached to the hook and used to lure the fish. Oftentimes, live baits are natural food of the fish the fisherman is aiming to catch. Freshwater fishermen tend to use earthworms, insects, grubs, minnows, crayfish and frogs as live bait. Saltwater fishermen, on the other hand, sometimes use small fish to attract the big catch available at sea.

The second type of bait is the prepared bait. Prepared baits used by fishermen include kernel corns, cheese or bread balls, salmon eggs, hotdogs, chicken entrails and the like. Saltwater fishermen often keep strips of fish belly in their sea fishing tackle to use as prepared bait.

The third type of bait is the artificial bait. These could be made of plastic, cloth, nylon or metal. Jigs, spinners, spoons, plastic worms and insects, and the like are all artificial baits. Most saltwater fishermen have a supply of jigs in their sea fishing tackle box.

What type of bait would work when you go saltwater fishing. It all depends on the fish you are planning to catch. A lot of fishermen swear by live bait, and some game fish do go for specific types of live bait. Fish tend to bite more eagerly at squirming live bait.

Artificial baits also work wonders on saltwater fishing trips. The key is to present them as naturally as possible to increase the chances of fish having a go at them. The weight of the lure often depends on the depth of the waters being fished, but the lure should not be too heavy, or else it would not look natural to the fish.

Many fishermen claim that fish have a keen sense of smell. Such fishermen always advise washing of hands before handling bait so that the human smell of one’s hands would not cling to the bait. Fish can sense human scent on bait and, wary creatures as they are, would not bite anything that smells human.

As much as possible, you should always have a few jigs in your sea fishing tackle box. However, what if you forgot to bring your bait when you set out for your fishing trip? In that case, you should learn to improvise. There was a story about a fisherman who forgot his bait once. To remedy the problem, he tore strips off his shirt and used it as bait. A big fish came biting, and once he caught that one, he used the pearly belly of his catch to create more bait.

Bait is an important part of your sea fishing tackle. You should always have some bait in your sea fishing tackle box before you go out on a fishing trip.

fishing tackle
The angler’s relationship with his equipment is a sacred one. Fishing tackle provides us with many hours of great fishing experience. In return, if we can spare but a few minutes to take care of it, we will be avoiding expensive trips to fishing shops for repairing and replacing equipment.

Maintaining fishing tackle is not a difficult task. It can easily be carried out by the most inexperienced of fishermen with materials that are easily available. What is usually lacking is the knowledge. This article aims to provide the novice fisherman with instructions and tips on how to care for his or her fishing tackle.

Fishing Reel

Fishing reel is one of the most delicate parts of fishing tackle because it is composed of moving parts. Regular maintenance and lubrication of fishing reels will greatly extend the lifespan of your fishing reel and ensure that it provides you with many hours of enjoyable fishing.

Always use freshwater to rinse out your reels, especially if you’ve been saltwater fishing. Dry the reel gently with a soft towel and use WD-40 or other similar sprays for lubrication, and to retard the effects of corrosion. Do not forget to put a drop or two of oil on your level wind gear.

Once in a while the reel should be carefully examined for nicks and cuts. Clear nail polish should be used to fill in any scratches on the reel. This is also a good moment to tighten the screws on your reel. This could make the crucial difference between your successfully landing a large catch, or your reel disintegrating under the strain.

If you are storing your fishing tackle for prolonged periods, it is also a good idea to loosen the drag on reel. This will prolong the life of the metal crush washers on the drag stack.

Fishing rods

Although fishing rods are probably the sturdiest part of fishing tackle, many rods have been broken by getting caught in doors, getting banged about in boats, or due to improper storage. Always take special care to ensure that your rod does not get involved in such unfortunate accidents.

Rods can also be periodically rinsed with freshwater to prolong their life. Do ensure that you dry them properly afterwards. The guides are the most delicate parts of fishing rods. These must be checked for snags by running a cotton tipped swab through and through. Always inspect the guides after saltwater fishing for signs of corrosion.

Fishing line

A fishing line is one of the most important parts of fishing tackle as your ability reel in fish depends on the strength and sensitivity of the line. When fighting a fish, the line tends to rub against rocks, logs, other fish, or hard objects. The consequent abrasions weaken the line. Hence it is very important to check for nicks and abrasions that weaken the line. If you find that a portion of the line is frayed, then it is a good idea to cut it off, rather than to have the line part when you are reeling in a good catch.

Monofilament line can also be damaged by prolonged exposure to excess sunlight or heat. Keep your fishing tackle in a cool, dry, shaded area when not in use. Avoid keeping fishing tackle in hot car trunks or in the back seat of the car where they are exposed to direct sunlight. Bulk line should also be stored in a cool and dark place.

Balance

A good fishing tackle should be well balanced. Always ensure that the rod, reel, line, and lure are compatible with each other. Do not use a light outfit with a heavy line or a heavy lure with a light outfit. Improperly balanced fishing tackle will not only be more susceptible to breakages and damages, but will also degrade your fishing performance.

fishing tackle
Just about everyone has longed to try their hand at fishing at one time or another. But like a lot outdoor activities, knowing what supplies to buy can be a challenge. Tackle, lures, knots–the learning curve for a beginning fisherman or woman is a steep one! This article will introduce you to a few of the basic fishing supplies and fish tackle you’ll need before you head to your favorite waterway.

There are lots of fishing stores around, but a lot of them might try to sell unneeded fishing supplies to gain a little cash from the fishing novice. Here is a description of some of the fishing tackle you need for any sort of fishing in any location.

Hooks. When it comes to basic fishing supplies, next to the fishing pole, the most important tools are your hooks. In a variety of shape and sizes, the right hook is one of the most important parts of your fishing gear. Fishing hooks are cheap, so you can stock an assortment of hooks for each kind of fishing. Most hooks are shaped like a letter “J.”

Rigs. These are utilized for catching different varieties and species of fish. The two most common rigs are the Bobber and Crappie. Bobber rigs are used for catching Bluegills and are suggested for beginners.

Sinkers. As the name states, sinkers are used to cast lighter lures and to rapidly drop the bait to the bottom of the water where fish are located. Collectively with the bobbers, the sinkers are used to hold your line at a given point. In angling stores, you will find several varieties of sinkers that come in various sizes, weights, and shapes. The current speed and the water depth determines the weight of the sinkers you will need for your fishing trip.

Bobber. It is also called a cork or a float. The bobber’s function to tell you when a fish bites your bait. The standard bobbers are pencil, slip bobbers and buttons. They are found in different sizes to fit all kinds of baits and sinkers. The best bobbers are those that are smaller. The wind will blow the bobber back to you if it’s too light and will scare the fish off when it is too big.

Swivels. This kind of fishing equipment is utilized when you are angling with bait such as a spinner or a minnow. This kind of bait may twist and turn, which can leave your line twisted. By attaching the swivel and tying it between your line and bait, it allows the lure to spin around without snarling up the line. Swivels are cheap and are made in different sizes to fit the bait and hooks you use.

Other must-have equipment to purchase include a tackle box to organize your gear and your bait. The bait may vary depending on the type of fishing you will be doing. Remember that purchasing basic fishing supplies and fish tackle are only the beginning. Having the correct equipment for the ideal location is important, but knowing the art of catching fish is significant to the sport. Always chat with the locals at the lake, river or dock for ideas on what works for them.

One of the best things about Korda fishing tackle is that you can find so much information on it before your try or buy the tackle, Korda strive to give anglers as much information as they possibly can so that their products will be used to the best of there abilities and will maintain a high standard in the industry. The amount of information that Korda provides for its anglers is of very high quality and is very informative for all anglers.

Korda fishing tackle ranges are extensive to say the least and offer very high quality products for reasonable prices. The Korda fishing tackle ranges from rigs to leads to systems and all of them live up to anglers expectations and have the durability needed with your fishing tackle gear.

One good thing about Korda fishing tackle is that they believe “why should you have different sizes for each part of your gear”, this is a great philosophy because they make one size for all and make each bit of your gear interchangeable so that you do not have to spend more money on different size equipment than you need as one size fits all with Korda.

Another great philosophy that Korda undertakes is that they will check their products all the time checking for quality and design, where if the Korda fishing tackle would not be used by them themselves, it will not be shipped out to customers as they use the “I wont use, I wont sell” method.

All of the Korda fishing tackle range has been developed by anglers for anglers so you can guarantee that when purchasing a piece of equipment from them you are buying quality goods that many happy anglers have used as well as you.

You can probably tell so far that Korda want to make sure that their products are at the best standard and of the highest quality, but also because of what I said at the start about the information they provide, it edges them in front of the competition even further. The information available on Korda fishing tackle is extensive and ranges from pamphlets to DVDs. Because of all this information which they have strived to make available customers feel a lot more secure and happy because they always get quality products along with the correct information to use it.

Because korda do not just use a couple of anglers to go out and use their tackle but carefully select some of the most knowledgeable anglers around the country, that have so many different fishing styles, you know that your Korda fishing tackle is going to be used correctly no matter what fishing style you have as there is always information made available for it.

I hope that this article has helped you in your choices and maybe even gets you closer to deciding where you are going to get your next piece of fishing tackle from, as quality is a priority for you the angler.

With prices going up on almost everything these days I see it more and more worthwhile buying clearance fishing tackle. In my argument fishing tackle is made and designed to catch fish. There is no need to worry about buying cheap, clearance tackle if you believe it may not be up to the job. You are wrong my friend, wrong. Like I said fishing tackle is fishing tackle and will always be used to catch fish, be it a year old or 3 years old. The designer designed the tackle to do the job. This is why you do not need to worry about buying clearance tackle. I see it more as a better investment and is cheaper than buying newer tackles, which ultimately does the same jobs.

In regards to online purchasing, fishing tackle is much cheaper on the whole then in stores. So firstly I would invest my money online rather than the stores. On many occasions by buying a lot online retailers often wave the postage and packaging. With online shopping becoming more and more popular retailers are able to lower their prices, which for us is another bonus. Now we can come to the clearance fishing tackle section. As you may know there is no difference between the clearance fishing tackle section and the rest of the store, in regards to catching fish. The only simple difference is that the clearance stock is usually older, but still works fine, that is it.

With more of a selection of fishing tackle online at a cheaper rate it is clear to see why already it is a better investment to shop online. By shopping online for clearance tackle you are buying already reduced tackle (at online prices) for even less. The amount of discount online stores give in accordance with high street stores is incomparable. In my local store I saw an Imax Flotation Suit (XL size) selling for £69.00. Online I found it for £60.00, a saving of ten pounds. When looking online further I found the exact same suit in the clearance fishing tackle section for £29.00. That is a over £70 saving when one compares it with my local high street tackle shop.

From what has been seen in this example, when comparing between high street stores and online stores is it possible to see a huge savings can be made. However, when one looks at online stores and clearance fishing tackle sections on website it is possible to see that even more saves can be found. This therefore shows that you can easily save money on fishing tackle and by shopping online you can potentially save a lot of money indicating to all that clearance fishing tackle is the better investment
